UNSCN and the Private Sector
The UNSCN has been wrestling with the issues of how to engage with the private sector while protecting and preserving its credibility and autonomy for several years. The UNSCN Private Sector Engagement Policy lays out a set of principles and mechanisms that can help to manage and minimize the possible risks for conflict of interest. Private sector actors are currently participating in the UNSCN through the NGO/Civil Society constituency, but there have been proposals that the current three constituencies should be increased to five, in order to give voice to a wider range of partners including the private sector.
